Amethyst Clusters

Natural Amethyst clusters fit in your hand, but no two are the same size.  Put one near your computer, another on the nightstand by your bed.

Amethyst is a quartz crystal, formed in a volcano over many, many centuries.  Look for the dark agate rock on the outside, followed by white quartz crystals forming from it.  If you don’t see any white, it probably is not a natural specimen.  The purple or lavender follows the white.     It is very dangerous to mine in a volcano.  Miners cannot bring equipment there that would harm the vug (a cavity in rock, lined with mineral crystals.), thus work is done by hand. Sometimes it takes several days to get one geode out of the volcano.  Often, pieces break away, and that is what you see here.  The palm sized Natural Amethyst from Brazil and Uruguay are beautiful. The larger the crystals are, the older the gemstone is.
